Caribbean Cruise 2017
This year we went on a small ship cruise (Windstar) from Barbados to San Juan, Puerto Rico, calling in at small islands the big ships can't get to. We visited Bequia - St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Pigeon Island, St. Lucia, Les Saintes - Guadeloupe, Monserrat, St. Barts and overnight in port in San Juan. We loved the small ship experience and the islands were all special. Monserrat was the most interesting, as we arranged a private tour to the volcanic area in the south where the capital town, Plymouth was destroyed by the volcanic activity in 1995 and '97. We spent a few days in Barbados with friends Gord and Francie in their home there before the cruise and a couple of days in Old San Juan at the end of the cruise. Description below each full sized image.

Little Bay, Monserrat, is now the small port created after the volcano destroyed Plymouth. It is not well protected and small cruise ships cannot always anchor, as the tenders can't manage rough seas. Fortunately all was calm when we were there.
